Volunter at Harlem Tenants Council
Harlem Tenants Council is in urgent need of volunteers to help out with our campaigns, organizing activities and office management. We need volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities:
Office Receptionist: answer telephone, follow-up telephone calls, and general office management. Ideal volunteer position for retirees.
Organizer: building and community organizing: tenants and block association; help coordinate rent clinic: direct service available to members - volunteer attorneys give free legal advice to tenants. Service does not include representation in housing court.
Archivist: collect and maintain binders of newspapers clipping, flyers and photos of HTC activities over a 15 year period. A major goal is to compile materials to publish a booklet on the history of HTC.
Professional Grant writer: Proposal writing to foundations and philanthropy organizations.
Fundraiser/Special Events Coordinator: Coordinate fundraising activities for HTC. Preferred prior experience that highlights being well organized with an ability to pay close attention to details. Ideal candidate: strong inter-personal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Email resume or letter to the attention of Nellie Hester Bailey:
